About Us

We specialise in general engineering civil works that require a high demand for engineering supervsion input. Our staff are used to working on projects in locations that require close liason with local residents and the public.

The business has been operating since 1969, primarily in the upper North Island.

We have on staff 3 qualifed civil engineers and over 25 experienced site personnel comprising site supervisors, carpenters, operators and labourers. Most of our site supervisors have been with Gibbons Contractors for many years and they have wide civil works experience. We also regularly employ on our projects a further 15-20 subcontracting personel, most of whom have worked with us for several years and are well integrated with our personnel and systems.

Our key personnel include Contract Manager Egidio Guimaraes, Estimator and Pre-Cast Manager Nestor Lising, Office Manager Chris Hyde, Site  Supervisors Tony Reed, Kerry Barnard, Ron Hastings, Jim Riach, Ti Aliimalemanu and Factory Foreman Luaiva Iuli, who are all long serving Gibbons team members. 

Ron Williams is the Managing Director and the Gibbons board consists of Ron and fellow directors Graham Dowd, Mike Harris and Chris Lobb with chairman Aaron Wallace of Hayes Knight. 

We are equipped with our own civil engineering plant, excavators, drilling equipment, trucks, compacting equipment and survey equipment.

Our offices are located at 15 Cowley Place, Albany, Auckland and on the same site we have a concrete pre-cast factory, a large yard and storage area for plant and equipment and a general workshop.

We operate computerised accounting, invoicing, banking and wages systems, and utilise Microsoft Project for programming and resource managment and the Benchmark Estimating system for pricing.

We are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our employees,visitors and sub-contractors in all areas of our work sites and premises. Our site staff are " Site Safe" accredited and each of our supervisors has attained "Site Safe Gold Card" status. We have ACC WSMP secondary level health and safety accreditiation.

We are a Transit "Pre-Qualified contractor and a member of the New Zealand Contractors Federation.
